Sending your milk to
The Milk Fairy HQ
Before you send off your precious milk, please take a moment to read through this page. It walks you through our shipping process step by step, so everything arrives safely and smoothly.
Before collection day
Three things to do
before your kit is collected.
Work through these in the days before your scheduled collection.
Step 01
Prepare your ice packs
When your kit arrives, place the ice packs straight in the freezer. Freeze them for at least 48 hours before your scheduled collection date so they hold temperature the whole way to us.
Step 02
Organise your collection
Make sure your collection date is booked, someone is home on the day, and your GPS tracker is connected to your iPhone in advance.
Book your collectionStep 03
Package your milk
On the morning of your collection, carefully pack your frozen breast milk into the cooler provided. The video further down walks you through it.
Good to know
A few more things
to keep in mind.
Courier arrival window
Our courier is scheduled to arrive between 9:30am and 1:30pm on your collection date, so please have someone home during that time. Delays and early arrivals do happen, so allow for some variation.
Ice pack instructions
Using the right number of ice packs is what keeps your milk frozen in transit. The table below shows how many your kit size needs.
Send the correct amount
Please send only the volume matching your kit size. Anything over the size you ordered incurs a charge for every 100g. Weighing your milk before packing is the easiest way to check.
GPS tracker
Your kit includes a GPS tracker so you can follow your milk's journey all the way to our facility. Connect it to your iPhone before collection day so it is ready to go.
Ice pack guide

FAQs
Common questions
before collection day.
ImportantI have a date on my shipping labels, does that mean my collection is booked?
No, the date on your labels is not a confirmed booking. This is the most common mix-up we see, and we want to make sure it does not happen to you.
Your collection is only confirmed once you have booked it yourself through our Calendly link. Until you do that, no courier will be sent to collect your kit, regardless of what date appears on your labels.
If you have not booked yet, please do it now so your collection day is locked in and your milk gets to us on time.
I booked my collection for 9:30am and the courier has not arrived, should I be worried?
No need to worry, your courier is on the way. 9:30am is the start of the collection window, not a set appointment time. Our courier collects from multiple addresses each day, so everyone shares the same window of 9:30am to 1:30pm.
On busier days couriers can run behind, and in some cases may not arrive until as late as 5:00pm. We know that is a long day of waiting, and we are sorry about that. If you have to head out, you can leave your packed kit in a safe spot out of direct sunlight for the courier.
One exception: this is not an option if your collection is booked with Mediport. In that case someone has to be home to hand it over in person. If you are not sure which courier is collecting your kit, get in touch and we will check for you.
Keep an eye on your GPS tracker to follow your kit's journey in the meantime.
Can I reschedule my collection date?
Yes. Life with a baby is unpredictable and we get it. If you need to change your collection date, please contact us as soon as you can so we can update things on our end. The earlier you let us know, the easier it is to move.
Can I send my milk in zip lock bags?
Unfortunately we cannot accept milk stored in zip lock bags. They are not suitable for the freeze-drying process and they carry a real risk of leaking in transit, which could compromise your milk and your order.
Please make sure your milk is in certified lactation bags before sending. If you are unsure whether your storage method is suitable, get in touch before collection day.
Is there an extra charge if I send my milk in bottles?
Yes, there is an additional charge for milk sent in bottles. Bottles need extra handling and processing time during freeze-drying preparation, so a surcharge applies.
If you are planning to send milk in bottles, please contact us ahead of your collection date so we can confirm the charge and set your order up correctly.
