Mixing Freeze-Dried Breast Milk Into Solids: A Beginner's Guide

Once solids enter the picture, a lot of mums start wondering whether their freeze-dried stash can do double duty — not just in bottles, but mixed into food too. The short answer: yes, with a few simple guidelines.

When to Start

As with introducing any new food or texture, it's worth chatting to your child health nurse or GP about timing for your individual baby, particularly around six months when solids typically begin.

How to Mix It In

Freeze-dried breast milk powder can be stirred into purees, porridge or other soft foods, adding a familiar taste and nutritional boost. Because it's a powder, it blends easily without needing to be reconstituted into liquid first.

Getting the Most Out of Your Stash

This can be a lovely way to use up smaller amounts of powder as your baby grows and bottle feeds naturally reduce — stretching your stash a little further, and keeping a taste of your milk in your baby's diet for longer.
